Matt Mays & El Torpedo perform final shows of 2007 this week

After a sell-out performance at the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton earlier this month, Matt Mays & El Torpedo will perform their last two shows of 2007 at Oxygen Nightclub in Moncton this Thursday, October 18, at 10pm and at the Cunard Centre in Halifax this Friday, October 19, at 9pm. The special guest for both shows is Gloryhound and the Skyhawks.

After the Halifax show, the band will be heading directly to England to start working on a new album. So, don’t miss out on your last chance to see MM&ET this year!

Tickets for the Moncton show are $20 advance and $25 day of show (including tax) and are available at The Manhattan, Frank's Music, Spin It, by phone at 902-494-3820 (1-800-874-1669) and online at Sonic Concerts. This show is 19+ and doors open at 9pm.

Tickets for the Halifax show are $25 advance and $30 day of show (including tax) and are available at Ticketpro outlets including United Bookstore (Barrington St.), Greenlyph Computers (Queen St.), the Halifax Forum, Alderney Landing, and Newsbreak Café and Newsstands at Ilsley Avenue, Lady Hammond Road, Windmill Road and Lacewood Drive. Matt Mays & El Torpedo Presale and Atlantic Canada Dates

Matt Mays & El Torpedo will be at the Cunard Centre in Halifax, NS on October 19 as part of the Halifax Pop Explosion festival.

The MattMays.com Store is currently holding a presale for you to get your tickets ahead of the pack! Tickets are general admission, but the Cunard Centre will be divided between a 19+ section and an all ages area; so make sure you select the right section when purchasing your tickets.

Matt in NYC

Matt will be performing a series of shows in New York along with 00.02.59 label-mates Christopher Denny and Mike Ferrio (from Tandy).

These shows will take place in a variety of venues around Manhattan and Brooklyn and will be loose "writers in the round" jam sessions. They take place from August 8 to the 15, followed by Matt’s solo show supporting The London Souls at the Mercury Lounge on the 16^th.

If you are in the New York area you should seriously consider checking out a few of these very special shows. Not a New Yorker? This sounds like the perfect road trip to cap off your summer.

Three More Dates!

MattMays.com Tour page has been updated to include 3 more dates!

August 2 will feature Matt, Gordie Sampson, Jay Smith (El Torpedo) and Steve MacDougall (Slowcoaster) in a songwriters circle at Smooth Herman's in Sydney, NS.

On August 16 Matt is going solo for a show at The Mercury Lounge in New York, NY and on September 14 Matt hooks back up with the El Torpedo boys for a stop at the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival in Fredericton, NB!

The Phoenix Sessions on CBC

This Friday, June 1 CBC Television will be presenting an unforgettable night of music as Randy Bachman and Ron Sexsmith promote some of the very best new talent that the Canadian music industry has to offer, including our own Matt Mays and El Torpedo!  Interviews and performances also showcase the likes of Kyle Riabko, Graph Nobel and The Stills.

Changes to El Torpedo - From Matt

Hey all,

I regret to announce that singer, guitarist Jarrett Murphy has decided to leave El Torpedo.  His departure is on good terms, and we all support the decision he's made. We've had an incredible five years with Jarrett. He will be missed both on and off stage. He was a huge part of this band. His leaving will no doubt send this band in a new direction.
Jay Smith from Sydney Cape Breton's Rock Ranger has signed on to be the new full time member of the band. The rock gods themselves could not create a better guy for the job. Jarrett has gladly passed the torch to Jay with confidence. We look forward to our future with Jay Smith. He's a perfect fit.
We're hittin' the studio soon to start work on our new record. I'm really exited about it. The jam's are shaping up, and the new Chapter is taking shape. Time to move forward.

Thanks for your strong support folks, we're such a lucky band to have you all as fans.
